Pulling It All Together!

Join me for a two-day immersive workshop in Bath, Maine, where we’ll explore the key principles that make a painting visually strong and dynamic. Through exercises and prompts, you’ll learn how to edit, refine, and unify your composition to create artwork that captivates from both a distance and up close.

Our focus will be on shape, form, and contrast—understanding the impact of light and dark, variety and placement—to guide the viewer’s eye and create depth and intrigue. Discover how to make your paintings not just work but pull the viewer in, revealing intricate details upon closer inspection.

Perfect for artists looking to refine their compositions and strengthen their visual storytelling. All media welcome: Oil and cold wax, acrylics, gouache, collage.

The Chocolate Church Arts Center is mid coast Maine’s regional performing and visual arts center. For more than 40 years the Chocolate Church Arts Center has been offering a rich program of live music, gallery exhibitions, theatre for young artists, lectures and workshops.

Workshop hours: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
